'What do we want from the architect? Four walls and top light, that's what!' - Georg Baselitz

I have been collecting those pictures below when I was in both London and Beijing. Those pictures might be used when I create my works, which include the opening, the wall, the hole, and the corner; as well as layers and lines; also the light and the shadow; and the exterior and the interior. All are the basic essentials of the architecture and space.

The opening:
the door and
the window

Some pictures were taken by my phone, some were just phone screenshots keeping the artist information, and the first picture is Anselm Kiefer's work. There are also works from Rudolf Stingel, Robert Ryman, Selma Parlour, Dexter Dalwood, Alex Hartley, and Wang Guangle.

They give me deep impression because of the abnormal perspective or abnormal shape or abnormal colour.

The opening is the most basic element of architecture. So I keep them.

The exterior and
the interior

One of my interesting is to take photo of the architecture I encounter. The only change is to expand the exterior into the interior of the buildings.

They are so different styles, but I am thinking about merging them into one painting.

Some of the pictures are from  Anselm Kiefer, and Zaha Hadid.

The shabby,
the wall,
the hole and
the layer

Those elements are really attractive to me. The holes, the layers, and the shabby walls, all mean ages and stories, which is about time in my dictionary.

A series photos were taken in an ancient temple in the suburban of Beijing. The red painting on the wall was fallen off and brushed on hundreds of times. The gingko tree's old skin sticked on  layers and layers. They experienced difficulties we do not know, but they are still alive, furthermore, over a thousand years.

I have the very strong impulse to express this kind of topic in my works, although I have not find the correct way to do up to now. However, I will persist in it in the future.

The line,
the light,
the shadow

Line is the most basic art and design element, the foundation, that other elements are built on.

And a beam of light is a kind of straight line.

I chose those pictures because I felt the rhythm of those lines. And I am sure I will use them or I have already used them unconsciously.
